The initiative “ESG Alliance” by the German Chamber of Commerce in China provides a platform for German companies in China to showcase their ESG engagement and commitment, as well as to exchange knowledge. We help Alliance Members learn about ESG, connect with valuable partners, open a line of communication to government authorities, and increase employee and stakeholder engagement in sustainability.

We act as a bridge builder, connecting, translating, representing, giving voice and advocating for German businesses in China. China’s economy is more than four times the size of Germany’s and offers tremendous opportunities to German companies. At the same time, the Chinese market is complex and can be hard to navigate. This is where the German Chamber helps – we offer a powerful platform for networking and exchange between German companies and the local business communities.

This report examines the ESG practices of 200 German companies in China to inspire and provide insights for the business community.

Government Affairs & Advocacy

We officially represent the interests of the German economy and German companies in China. For this, we regularly meet with Chinese governments to discuss key priorities of Sino-German business relations and improve the business environment for German companies in China. We evaluate China’s economic policy developments and provide practical guidance and orientation for German companies in an ever more complex environment. Additionally, we support German companies with individual government affairs cases.
